- I've read many correspondence in this newsgroup about the
- Rockwell chip on the Zoom modems and its compatiblity
- with the PnP PCI BIOS.
-
- I'm wondering has anyone come up with a solution to
- get this modem to function properly?
-
- It has taken 7 different people with good computer knowledge,
- 5 different computers (Pentiums), and over 20 hours of
- testing all different methods but as of now, the promising
- ComStar 28.8 is still not working.
-
- I would be very appreciated if anyone can offer any
- assistance on installing this modem in Windows95.

-
- P.S. I received this modem on Monday (1/22/96) and I thought
- the modem was defective the first time I installed it. So the
- vendor sent me another one and it still gave me the same problem.
- Win95 keeps detecting an Unknown Device and can not assign
- any Com Port to this unknown device. We also tried manually
- set it to Com Port 2 or 3 or 4 but that did not work either.
-
- It has been a nightmare! Maybe the best bet is to return the
- modem and forget about this whole business of speakerphone modem.
